Haslar Sea School was set up in January 2002 to complement the successes of Solent Yacht Charters (previously Victory Yacht Charters), by providing quality RYA Training to charterers who wished to develop their skills, and to newcomers to the sport who we hoped might become SYC's charterers of the future. Starting off by offering RYA Cruising Scheme courses on sailing yachts, we quickly gained a reputation for delivering high standards of tuition on modern, well equipped yachts.
Since then we have continually developed, and expanded what we are able to offer our clients. Our first few months operating saw us opening our dedicated classroom overlooking the marina. This is equipped with computer based simulators, flares, EPIRB, video and GPS chartplotters, and Live DSC Simulators to create what we feel to be one of the best equipped classrooms around. Our training fleet has also expanded and now includes several Ribs, a Sealine 37 Motor Cruiser, and a continually upgraded fleet of sailing yachts.
Whatever your training needs, please get in touch, our staff have many year experience in watersports of all sorts, and are keen to pass on their skills and knowledge. ICC Training is becoming more and more popular as the ICC certificate becomes more widely recognised abroad, and people charter and cruise further afield. Our RYA recognised coastal sea school takes you from basic navigation through all levels of crew and skipper training. Day skipper training and day skipper theory exams (including training based on past day skipper exams) is the way many sailors start out with our sea school. Various sea exams will take you through Yachtmaster Offshore to Cruising Instructor Training. At Haslar Sea School, you can progress from a basic navigation and safety course, through diesel engine maintenance, 1st aid, radar and sea survival shorebased and the Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster scheme up to a commercialy endorsed instructor teaching newcomers to the sport.
